Pastoral Care

Pastoral Care is given from a biblical perspective that is guided by principles from God’s Word. We desire to see you draw near to God as you see the truths of His Word come to bear in these hard places. We seek to bring the encouragement, comfort, and truth of Jesus Christ to bear on the challenges you are facing, helping you heal and grow as you are strengthened in your walk with God.

Living Water is committed to offering pastoral care for individuals, couples, and families who are experiencing a greater need of care and guidance through their unique circumstances.

The Need for Pastoral Care

Pastor Joel devotes intentional time each week to pastoral care, demonstrating the heart of a true shepherd. His approach is deeply personal, relational, and rooted in Scripture. He believes that effective ministry begins with listening, compassion, and presence—meeting people where they are and walking with them through life’s challenges. Whether through one-on-one pastoral care, hospital visits, family prayer sessions, or personal phone calls, Pastor Joel ensures that every member of Living Water Church feels seen, heard, and valued. His care extends beyond the walls of the church, reaching into homes and communities where comfort and guidance are needed most.

1. To Reflect the Heart of Christ
Jesus is called “the Good Shepherd” (John 10:11), who lovingly guides, protects, and nurtures His flock. Pastoral care continues this ministry showing Christ’s compassion to people in practical ways. It reminds the church that God still cares personally and deeply for His children.

Scripture: “He tends His flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in His arms and carries them close to His heart.” — Isaiah 40:11

2. To Strengthen the Spiritual Health of the Church
Believers face challenges, doubts, and spiritual fatigue. Pastoral care provides prayer, counsel, and encouragement that keep people grounded in faith and growing in God’s Word.

Scripture: “Encourage one another and build each other up.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:11

3. To Provide Emotional and Spiritual Support
Life brings grief, sickness, loneliness, and crisis. Pastoral care ensures no one suffers alone. It offers comfort, guidance, and prayer that help people experience God’s peace and hope in difficult seasons.

Scripture: “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” — Galatians 6:2

4. To Guide and Restore the Hurting
Pastoral care provides correction, healing, and restoration to those who have fallen, wandered, or are struggling spiritually — always with grace and gentleness.

Scripture: “If someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently.” — Galatians 6:1

5. To Equip and Empower Believers for Ministry
Pastoral care is not only about comfort but also about growth. It helps believers mature in faith and discover their calling to serve others.

Scripture: “To equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.” — Ephesians 4:12

6. To Ensure No One Is Overlooked
In a growing church, it is easy for people to feel unseen or forgotten. Pastoral care ensures every member is valued, prayed for, and supported.

Scripture: “Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them.” — 1 Peter 5:2
